Untold Stories Theatre is seeking performers aged 15+ from Calgary and the surrounding area to audition for our production of Into the Woods.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

• All auditioners are asked to prepare the following:

  • A 1:00 - 1:30 minute cut of a musical theatre song you love to sing! (Please do not sing a selection from the show).

  • Please prepare a backing track for your song on a device to play your music (i.e., phone, iPod, mp3 player, etc). We will not have an accompanist or piano available.

    • We should have an attachment for both newer iPhones and Android devices, but if you have one bring one with you just in case!

• Please select an audition slot

We are looking to cast 22 performers as well as 4 offstage singers/swings for this production. Performers for Into the Woods should be comfortable with complicated music and strong character work!

Auditions        

May 13th, 15th, 17th & 18th, 2024

• Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

• Saturday: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

• Callbacks:

  • May 25th, 2024: 1 - 6 p.m.

Rehearsals          

July 21st - October 20th, 2024

• Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

• Sundays: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Tech Days

October 27th - 31st, 2024

• Sunday: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

• Monday - Thursday: 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Shows

November 1st - 16th, 2024

• Weekdays & Saturdays: 7 p.m.

• Saturdays & Sundays: 2 p.m.

All cast members must be available for all of tech week and all shows. Please review the production dates to ensure you are able to commit to the show.

ABOUT SWINGS

As a swing, your responsibility is to learn a handful of ensemble tracks (and some larger tracks on a case-by-case basis) and be prepared to jump into those tracks should one of the members of the cast not be able to perform. You will be singing backstage for ALL performances to support vocals, and receive a bow at the end of every show. For swings, we look for people who are strong singers, dancers, and actors, and who we can trust to ensure that the show will go on no matter what! This is an excellent area of growth for already strong performers.
