We’re seeking a team of costumers with sewing experience to help create the colorful world of Hello, Dolly. Each costumer will be assigned a handful of specific cast members to build costumes for based on measurements and concept designs provided by Untold Stories Theatre.
What You'll Do:
Create select costumes for 1-3 cast members using the measurements, designs, and fabric provided by Untold Stories Theatre.
Conduct fittings for your assigned cast member(s) and potentially other cast members as required.
Adhere to strict deadlines for finishing costumes to ensure that they are ready for use for promotional photos, dress rehearsals, and performances.
Be willing to make changes based on the needs of the Costume Designer, Director(s), and Untold Stories Theatre.
What You Should Have:
Beginner-level sewing machine and hand-sewing skills
Basic knowledge of alterations and fittings (training available)
Ability to work independently and take projects home
Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
Access to your own sewing machine (required)
Comfortable interacting with cast and team members
Knowledge of Victorian/1890s fashion is a strong asset
This is a fantastic opportunity for those with sewing skills who want to explore costume design and build a portfolio, or for experienced designers seeking a creative project with a lighter workload.

ABOUT THE SHOW
This musical adaptation of Thornton Wilder’s hit play The Matchmaker bursts with humor, romance, energetic dance and some of the greatest songs in musical theatre history. The romantic and comic exploits of Dolly Gallagher Levi, turn-of-the-century matchmaker and “woman who arranges things,” are certain to thrill and entertain audiences again and again.
Hello, Dolly! premiered on Broadway on January 16, 1964 at the St. James Theatre. Opening with Carol Channing in the title role, the show ultimately played for 2,844 performances, making it – at the time – the longest-running Broadway musical in history. The West End production ran for 794 performances at London’s Drury Lane Theatre. The musical has been revived several times on Broadway, most recently in 2017, starring Bette Midler as Dolly Levi.
