Untold Stories Theatre is seeking production team members from Calgary and the surrounding area with all backgrounds and experience levels to submit for Hello, Dolly for the following roles:
Producer
- Keeps the production on track by managing timelines, coordinating the production team, and ensuring everything runs smoothly from rehearsal to curtain call. 
Music Director
- Leads the musical side of the production by teaching, rehearsing, and polishing all of the show’s music with the cast. 
Stage Manager
- The organizational backbone of the production! Oversees rehearsals, keeps everyone on schedule, runs tracks and sound cues during rehearsals and performances, and ensures everything behind the scenes goes off without a hitch. 
Assistant Stage Manager
- The backstage superheroes. Ready to jump in wherever needed—helping with quick changes, set transitions, prop tracking, and keeping the show running seamlessly. 
Sound Designer
- Designs and programs all sound elements, from effects to microphone setup, helping create the perfect audio atmosphere for the show. 
Lighting Designer
- Designs and installs all lighting elements for the production, working closely with the creative team to bring each scene to life. 
Master Carpenter
- Collaborates with the Set Designer to bring the physical world of the show to life. Builds, assembles, and maintains the set pieces for the production. 
Props Designer
- Designs, sources, and creates the props that help tell the story on stage. 
Costumers
- We’re seeking a team of 5–6 costumers with sewing experience to help create the magical world of Hello, Dolly. Each costumer will be assigned a handful of specific cast members to build costumes for based on measurements and concept designs provided by Untold Stories Theatre. 
- This is a fantastic opportunity for those with sewing skills who want to explore costume design, or for experienced designers seeking a creative project with a lighter workload. 
Hair and Makeup Designer
- Designs the hair and makeup looks for the entire cast, bringing characters to life through creative styling. 
 May also teach cast members how to:- Apply stage makeup 
- Style hair for performance 
- Properly wear and care for wigs 
 
Lighting Operator
- Runs the lighting board during performances, following cues under the guidance of the Stage Manager. 
Sound Operator
- Runs the sound board during performances, using a cue book to execute microphone cues.

Those who have not worked with Untold Stories Theatre in the past may be asked to have an interview with the Artistic Directors once they have submitted. These interviews will be scheduled based on the availability of interviewees.

Untold Stories Theatre operates on a volunteer basis and can not offer any monetary compensation.
Select team members may be asked to complete a police background check should this production involve person(s) under the age of 18. The cost of this check will be discussed upon offer for those team members for whom it will be required.
Submission will remain open until November 12th.
Several roles are required to begin a small amount of preparation (including meetings) before rehearsals start as per Untold Stories Theatre’s practices. More information can be found at the bottom of this page in Other Meeting Details.
PRODUCTION DATES
Auditions
January 6th - 11th, 2026
- Weeknights: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. 
- Weekends: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. 
- Callbacks: Sunday January 18th, 2026 - 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. 
 
Only the Directors, Choreographer, Music Director, Producer and Stage Manager are required to attend auditions and callbacks. Assistant Stage Managers will be asked to help out as greeters alternating audition days.
Rehearsals
March 1st - June 4th, 2026
- Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. 
- Sundays: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. 
A meet and greet may happen half an hour before the first rehearsal for important notes for the team from the Producer and Directors of the show.
We would like all production team members to attend the First Rehearsal/Read Through.
Production Meetings
March 1st - May 31st, 2026
- Every second Sunday before rehearsals: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. 
Production meetings are in person and are a requirement for all production team members. All conflicts for production meetings must be reflected on your application for the show.
Tech Days
June 7th - 11th, 2026
- Sunday: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. 
- Monday - Thursday: 6 p.m. - 11 p.m. 
All production team members are required for all Tech Days/Evenings.
Shows
June 12th - 27th, 2026
- Weekdays & Saturdays: 7 p.m. 
- Saturdays & Sundays: 2 p.m. 
Only the Stage Management Team and Operators are required for show dates.

        Same Page Meeting: January/February, 2026This is a mandatory IN PERSON meeting for the rehearsal team to discuss a breakdown of the show and the rehearsal process and make sure we are all on the same page with our expectations. The date and time will be determined based on availability of all involved. Required production team members: Directors Choreographer Music Director Producer Stage Manager

        Initial Design & Concept Meetings: January, 2026This is a mandatory ONLINE meeting in which all departments will meet with the directors to discuss their plans for the design and execution of the show. A schedule will be designated and not all members will be required for both days/the full meetings. Required production team members: Producer Set Designer & Decorator Props Designer Costume Designer Hair & Makeup Designer Sound Designer Lighting Designer

        Paper Tech: Date TBDThis meeting is to finalize technical/SM cues. Sound cues will be determined as the rehearsal process goes on, and thus sound designers are not required for paper tech.
