PRODUCTION DATES
Rehearsals
August 10th - November 13th, 2025
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Sundays: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
We would like all production team members to attend the First Read Through.
Production Meetings
August 10th - November 9th, 2025
Every second Sunday before rehearsals: 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
Production meetings are in person and are a requirement for all production team members. All conflicts for production meetings must be reflected on your application for the show.
Tech Days
November 16th - November 20th, 2025
Sunday: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Monday - Thursday: 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.
All production team members are required for all Tech Days.
Shows
November 21st - December 6th, 2025
Weekdays & Saturdays: 7 p.m.
Saturdays & Sundays: 2 p.m.
Only the Stage Management team and operators are required for show dates.
Dark days will be potentially be understudy runs and the Stage Manager will be required for all understudy runs.
Untold Stories Theatre is seeking a Stage Manager from Calgary and the surrounding area with all backgrounds and experience levels to submit for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

If you have already submitted to be a stage manager via our first production team call, there is no need to submit yourself again.
The Stage Manager MUST undergo a police background check including a vulnerable sector search in order to work on this production. Payment of the background check will be discussed upon offer. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to us at info@untoldstoriestheatre.com.
The stage manager is an integral role to the organization and leadership of the production.
Reports to - Director, Producer
Core Responsibilities
Attend bi-weekly production meetings to provide and hear updates from all departments.
During rehearsals:
Attend ALL rehearsals.
Run Q-Lab/rehearsal tracks for all rehearsals requiring music. If assistance is required, please check in with AD’s.
Record all happenings in rehearsal reports, including all requests to the design team from the directors.
Meet early on with ASM’s to determine roles and responsibilities.
The stage manager is responsible for ASM’s and must ensure that direction and responsibilities are clearly communicated.
If ASM’s do not meet standards of the team, ensure to work with them to make sure that they understand what needs to be done.
Ensure that the cast and team present are remaining focused and quiet during working periods.
Ensure ALL blocking and choreography is recorded via video and posted to the appropriate google drives.
Lead and assist ASM’s in set up and take down of the rehearsal room at each rehearsal according to the guidelines posted on Trello.
Assist in schedule reordering at the request of the director/producer/AD’s.
Ensure the leader for the rehearsal (Music Director, Choreographer, Director) is remaining on schedule for their designated rehearsal time.
Record ALL cues requested by team leads in a show script to be reviewed and finalized during paper tech.
During Load-in, Tech Week, Shows, and Strike:
Load-in:
Do a walkthrough with venue staff - The producer and/or stage manager/director will be signing any paperwork required for load-in.
If requested, help schedule load-in.
During load-in, check in with all departments throughout the day to ensure they feel supported and provide any help as necessary.
The stage manager may float OR be a part of a specific team, but is required to assist for a majority of load-in.
Tech Week:
Be present and available for each rehearsal.
Ensure all cues are working correctly and be ready to jump into various parts of the show as needed.
Check in with sound and lighting teams to ensure you have all the required information needed to run/call the show.
Ensure your calling script is tidy and usable for all shows.
The book may be requested to be kept for Untold Theatre Society’s purposes and should be readable by anyone who may need to jump in at the last minute should an emergency occur.
Call the show as needed throughout the week both in dress rehearsals as well as cue to cue or tech runs.
Work with the director to maintain the standard of quality of Untold Stories Theatre.
It is imperative to continue the atmosphere of respect, kindness, and teamwork throughout this process.
Shows:
Be available for ALL shows and put-in rehearsals.
Call all shows.
Lead ASM team throughout pre-show, show, and post show responsibilities.
Record all happenings in show reports, sent to the team directly.
Contact design team heads and/or producer and AD’s should anything need changes, fixes, or needs to be cut.
Be the main contact for the staff of the venue DURING runs. All non-run times the main point of contact will be appointed to the producer.
Strike:
During strike, check in with all departments throughout the day to ensure they feel supported and provide any help as necessary.
The stage manager may float OR be a part of a specific team, but is required to assist for strike.
Do a walkthrough with venue staff - The producer and/or stage manager/director will be signing any paperwork required for strike.
Those who have not worked with Untold Stories Theatre in the past may be asked to have an interview with the Artistic Directors once they have submitted. These interviews will be scheduled based on the availability of interviewees.

Paper Tech: Date TBD
This meeting is to finalize technical/SM cues. Sound cues will be determined as the rehearsal process goes on, and thus sound designers are not required for paper tech.
