Untold Stories Theatre is seeking performers from Calgary and the surrounding area to audition for our production of Hello, Dolly!

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

• All auditioners are asked to prepare the following:

  • A 1:00 - 1:30 minute cut of a musical theatre song you love to sing!

    • Please do not sing a selection from the show.

    • While not a requirement, the team recommends singing something in the style of the show.

  • Please prepare a backing track for your song on a device to play your music (i.e., phone, iPod, mp3 player, etc). We will not have an accompanist or piano available but will have a speaker to plug in to.

    • Due to time constraints, auditioners will be cut off is their track is longer than 1:30.

    • We will have an attachment for both newer iPhones and Android devices, but if you have one bring it with you just in case!

  • NO ACAPELLA AUDITIONS PLEASE

We are looking to cast around 26 performers including understudies/swings for this production. Performers for Hello, Dolly should be comfortable with learning classical vocal and dance techniques! Experience in these areas is not required.

PRODUCTION DATES

Auditions        

January 6th - 8th & 11th, 2026

• Weeknights: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

• Sunday: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

• Callbacks:

  • Sunday January 18th, 2026: 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.

    • Auditioners asked to attend callbacks should be prepared to be there for the full 5 hours.

Rehearsals          

March 1st - June 4th, 2026

• Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

• Sundays: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Tech Days

June 7th - 11th, 2026

• Sunday: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

• Monday - Thursday: 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.

  • All cast is required for all tech days, including load-in on Sunday, June 11th.

Shows

June 12th - 27th, 2026

• Weekdays & Saturdays: 7 p.m.

• Saturdays & Sundays: 2 p.m.

  • Shows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are tentative and will open dependent on ticket sales. If there is no show on those days, an understudy put-in rehearsal will happen. Even though shows are tentative, it is expected that all cast and needed crew be available for this day.

All cast members must be available for all of tech week and all shows.

Because theatre is a collaborative process, it’s important that everyone involved can commit to the rehearsal schedule. Cast members are required to attend at least 90% of all rehearsals. All known conflicts must be listed on your audition form and should be finalized prior to casting. The production team will do their best to accommodate conflicts shared in advance, however, please understand that an excess of conflicts may influence casting decisions.

ABOUT SWINGS

As a swing, your job is to learn several ensemble tracks (and sometimes a few larger roles, depending on the show) so you’re ready to jump in if someone in the cast can’t perform. You’ll still be on stage for every performance in a few select group numbers, and you’ll always get to take a bow at the end of the show.

We’re looking for strong singers, dancers, and actors who are reliable and adaptable—people we can count on to help keep the show going no matter what. It’s a great chance for experienced performers to grow and challenge themselves in a new way.
