Untold Stories Theatre is seeking performers aged 8 - 12 from Calgary and the surrounding area to audition for the role of Charlie Bucket in our production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

• Please fill out an audition form

• All Charlie Bucket auditioners are asked to prepare the following:

  • This predetermined cut from the song Willy Wonka! Willy Wonka!

    • Please include the dialogue at the top of the sheet music! We will have one of the directors read the lines of Willy Wonka.

    • Memorisation is NOT required!

    • We will have a device to play the backing track during the audition.

• Please select an audition slot

  • Charlie Bucket auditions will be held in groups at the start of each audition day.

ABOUT CHARLIE BUCKET

Sweet, smart, hopeful and kind. A boy with wonderful innocence and vulnerability. He dreams of a better life for everyone.

(MALE OR FEMALE to play male identifying character, age range: 8 - 12)

This role will be double cast and both cast members will be offered an equal amount of shows.

Vocal Range: G#3 - F5 | Treble / Soprano

PRODUCTION DATES

Auditions        

May 19th, 21st, 23rd & 24th, 2025

• Weeknights: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

• Saturday: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

• Callbacks:

  • May 31st, 2025: 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.

    • It is expected that those called back for Charlie Bucket will only bee needed for the first hour BUT THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. If receiving a callback, more information will be provided.

Rehearsals          

August 10th - November 13th, 2025

• Tuesdays & Thursdays: 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

• Sundays: 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Tech Days

November 16th - 21st, 2025

• Sunday: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

• Monday - Thursday: 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.

  • All cast is required for all tech days, including load-in on Sunday, November 16th.

Shows

November 21st - December 6th, 2025

• Weekdays & Saturdays: 7 p.m.

• Saturdays & Sundays: 2 p.m.

  • Because this role is being double cast, please be aware that even if not on stage that night, both Charlie Bucket's will be required at every performance in case of an emergency where we would need to swap performers last minute. When not performing that night, the alternate Charlie will sing the group songs backstage! If you have any questions please reach out to us via email.

  • Shows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays are tentative and will open dependant on ticket sales. If there is no show on those days, an understudy put-in rehearsal will happen. Even though shows are tentative, it is expected that all cast and needed crew be available for this day.

All cast members must be available for all of tech week and all shows. Please review the production dates to ensure you are able to commit to the show.
